‘Counting On’: Did Michelle Duggar Once Get a Gay Crew Member Fired?

Derick Dillard recently spouted off on Twitter with another series of homophobic rants. That’s nothing new for the 30-year-old law student, though. Dillard got his family booted from Counting On after bullying transgender teen, Jazz Jennings, via Twitter. While Dillard’s tweets are genuinely troubling, he isn’t the only member of the Duggar family to share homophobic world views. In fact, it is rumored that Michelle Duggar once had a member of the production staff removed from the show simply because he was gay.

Did Michelle Duggar have a production member
booted for being gay?

While crew members are to abide by non-disclosure agreements on all sets, that doesn’t mean tidbits of information don’t leak out every now and again. The Duggar family has suffered a couple of scandals in recent years, but none have been outed by crew members. In 2015, however, an alleged former member of the production staff came forward to suggest Michelle had a crew member booted from the team for being gay, according to In Touch.

As the story goes, Michelle decided to chat up the staff one day ahead of a trip to New York City. Back in the early days of the show, the family had rarely left Arkansas and had little knowledge of the outside world. She allegedly asked the crew members if the gay population was causing trouble in New York.

One crew member accidentally outed another
member of the team, mentioning that the crew member was a part of the
population Michelle was asking questions about. Michelle allegedly confronted a
producer about the situation, and the crew member was immediately swapped onto
a different set, according to the source.

The staff was told to remain a hands-off
approach to the Duggar family

The incident allegedly went down early on in the family’s series run. While the cast of 19 Kids and Counting has become more “worldly” as the series continued, crew members were asked to avoid having direct contact with the family.

According to Pop Culture, crew members were instructed not to taint the family’s world views. In fact, they were encouraged to avoid talking about anything with the Duggar family, lest the conversation veers onto any topic the family might find objectionable.

The topics that could be deemed objectionable for Michelle Duggar could be as innocuous as music and popular culture. The crew was also asked to avoid reacting to anything that the family said that might seem incorrect or ignorant. The goal was to preserve their world view, at all costs.

Michelle has a history of homophobic views

While the production company behind 19 Kids and Counting have never confirmed the rumors, many fans believe Michelle’s alleged behavior seems pretty typical for the mother of 19. After all, the Duggar family has public supported anti-LGBTQ legislation and has voiced homophobic ideas in recent years.

Michelle Duggar lent her voice to a series of robocalls that denounced laws aimed at offering transgender individuals equal rights. In the call, she compared transgender people to pedophiles, according to The Washington Blade. She later went on to defend herself in an exclusive interview with Megyn Kelly.

The family also explicitly asks potential suitors about their relationship with the gay community. One question on a lengthy dating questionnaire asks would-be beaus if they’ve ever been “exposed to homosexuality.” It goes on to ask the suitor to explain the situation in-depth.

‘Teen Mom’ Farrah Abraham Said She Cut Back on Plastic Surgery

Former Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham is known for starring on the hit MTV reality show. She’s also known for having major cosmetic procedures done to her face and body. Abraham isn’t shy about the fact she’s had some work done. She openly discusses the procedures she had. In one interview, Abraham said she had to tone down some of the work she had done. Here are the procedures she cut back on and why.

Which plastic surgery procedures did Farrah Abraham have?

Abraham has had a lot of cosmetic procedures done over the
years. In 2012, she had nose and chin implants. She later had three breast
augmentation procedures. Abraham also admits to having a lip filler procedure. In
Touch Weekly
reports
the nose and chin surgeries cost roughly $16,000. Her 2012 breast augmentation
cost $5,000.

Fans begged Farrah Abraham to stop getting plastic surgery

Fans have expressed their opinions about Abraham’s procedures, telling her to put an end to the plastic surgery. One Teen Mom viewer questioned how one person could get so many fillers. “How many fillers can a face hold? I’m telling you woman to woman your face looks like you just got stung 100 times in a row by a swarm of bees!” said the commenter.

Farrah Abraham said she toned down the plastic surgery

During a 2016 interview on the Allegedly podcast,
Abraham said she decided to take a step back when it came to plastic surgery. One
listener told the hosts she thought Abraham looked like Hilary Clinton before
she got plastic surgery. Abraham didn’t seem to mind the comparison and said
she “loves Hilary Clinton.” When asked who she thinks she looks like now, Abraham
said she doesn’t know, but that she did have to take the plastic surgery procedures
down a notch:

I took a chin implant out. I’ve dialed down on the injections because I thought they were too much. There was a lot of stuff. Plastic surgery turns out to be more than you bargained for. I can say that for sure. I kind of just let it all go. The only thing I had to fix were breasts because I was getting serious scarring. I felt like I had a heart attack many nights in a row. So, I had to change up my health regimen and some of those other things.

Farrah Abraham’s thoughts on plastic surgery today

Almost three years later, Abraham seems to feel differently about having her face and body enhanced. During her interview on The Hollywood Pipeline podcast she said she had no regrets about having plastic surgery. However, she said she regrets not having more procedures done. Here’s what Abraham had to say about her surgeries:

I regret not getting more. I think it’s good. I always say it’s better to prevent when you’re younger than when you’re older and you’ve let yourself go. It’s more money and you change your look more. I just want to seem youthful and plump and be happy. I don’t want to ever look like I have bags because I do stay up late, and I do work a lot.

Is DJ Khaled Married?

DJ Khaled has become such a pop culture presence that most people know of him, even if they aren’t quite sure what he does. DJ Khaled‘s roster of celebrity friends, commitment to social media, and endlessly positive message of self-love have become his signature, and fans support his musical endeavors no matter who he collaborates with. Khaled has also made headlines for his personal life, though not for the same reason as many rappers — Khaled has actually been in one committed relationship for a very long time.

How DJ Khaled became famous

DJ Khaled has been in the music industry for decades, working with young artists to help them become successful long before he turned his attention to building his own brand. At the beginning of his career, Khaled worked in record stores before becoming a DJ. In the late ’90s, Khaled moved to Miami and began hosting radio shows. Slowly, audiences started becoming aware of DJ Khaled and his unique personality.

In 2006, Khaled released his very first album, “Listennn…the Album.” It did quite well and eventually led to his second album in 2007, “We the Best.” The second album is when Khaled really started his series of high-powered collaborations with fellow artists like T-Pain, Rick Ross, Birdman, and Lil’ Wayne.

He has gone on to release several more albums, including “Major Key” and “Grateful.” In addition to his musical endeavors, Khaled has become a social media superstar, courting legions of fans on Snapchat and Twitter. His larger-than-life personality is perfect for social media and he has become instantly recognizable, even for those who might not listen to his music.

Who is DJ Khaled’s wife?

In contrast to his superstar persona, DJ Khaled is actually a happy family man. Khaled has been with his wife, Nicole Tuck, for eleven years. Tuck has an impressive resume, which includes a master’s in education, and primarily spends her time managing Khaled’s career. She frequently accompanies him to various red carpet and industry events.

Tuck tends to keep a low profile on social media and seems to be the exact opposite of her husband in many ways. She has been seen in some of his Snapchat videos berating him for filming her, so it’s clear that the couple has very different views on social media. Still, they seem happy together and have stuck by one another’s side for well over a decade.

How many children does DJ Khaled have?

Khaled and Tuck have one son, Asahd Tuck Khaled, born in October 2016. The toddler has become a mainstay in Khaled’s social media posts and Snapchat videos. Khaled even live-streamed Asahd’s birth on Snapchat — it is not known what his wife thought about that particular decision. The music mogul is undoubtedly devoted to his son and even brings young Asahd to many red carpet events with him. The toddler can often be seen perched in the seat next to his famous father.

Khaled titled his eleventh studio album after his son, “Father of Asahd.” While some fans take issue with the sheer luxury that Khaled exposes his son to, including designer baby clothes, others see it as the loving efforts of a doting father and mother. Certainly, little Asahd will always know that he is loved.

As to whether or not Khaled and Tuck could welcome more children in the future, it seems likely. Prior to baby Asahd’s birth, Khaled gushed about how excited he was to become a father, saying he definitely wants more than one child: “I’ve always wanted to be a family man. I’m in a great family and I want to have my own family at the same time.”

What Terrified Paul McCartney About the Beatles’ First Recording Session

If you read about Paul McCartney in the studio with The Beatles, writers often focus on his professionalism and, at times, perfectionism to a fault. While recording Abbey Road, Paul drove the entire band nuts recording “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.” It simply took too long.

For Paul, it was just another day (or three) at the office. From the books published on The Beatles, he seems like the band member who always felt comfortable in the studio. Whatever it took to get a track right, Paul was ready to do it — even if it pissed off John Lennon to no end.

At the Beatles’ first recording sessions in 1962, Paul arrived confident and ready to play. After some discussion, producer George Martin allowed them to try out their own composition, “Love Me Do.” But he asked for a last-minute change.

Rather than keep John singing and playing harmonica (which cut off some lyrics), Martin asked Paul to sing the chorus on his own. Suddenly, Paul realized he’d be singing the break without any music behind him. The idea terrified him.

Paul’s case of ‘the screaming heebie jeebies’

When you listen to “Love Me Do,” you hear Paul and John singing the song in unison for most of the track. Prior to the recording session, there was no harmonica part. However, Martin encouraged John to play the instrument to improve the tune.

The problem was John had always sang the part when the music stops (“Love me do … Oh-whoa, love me do.”). When Martin suggested Paul take over that section, it gave him what he described as “the screaming heebie jeebies.”

“We were doing it live and I was suddenly given this massive moment on our first thing, where everything stopped,” Paul said later. “There was no backing, the spotlight went to me and I went (in trembling tones) ‘Love me doooooo.’ I can still hear the shake in my voice when I listen to it.”

While Paul’s nerves were racked, George Martin was pleased with the arrangement. He liked John’s harmonica and Paul on the lead vocal when the moment in the song arrived.

‘Love Me Do’ became the Beatles’ breakout single.

While “I Want to Hold Your Hand” became the band’s signature song for its invasion of America, the UK single that put The Beatles on the map was “Love Me Do.” After it appeared late in ’62, it peaked at No. 17 on the charts. That was better than anyone could have expected.

Up next came “Please Please Me,” the band’s first No. 1 hit in early 1963. It would take a full year before the Fab Four matched that feat on the U.S. charts and made their debut on The Ed Sullivan Show.

However, they arrived in America fully prepared. They’d honed their craft on stage and in the studio. When Capitol released Meet the Beatles! in January ’64, the album shot to No. 1 in less than a month.

With the crowds screaming his name, it’s unlikely Paul had any more heebie jeebies when singing “Love Me Do.”

Are Environmental Issues More Important to Prince Harry Now That He’s a Dad? How the Queen Inspired Him

Is Prince Harry interested in environmental issues and conservation because he’s a new dad? That’s a theory that conservationist Dr. Jane Goodall had when she met with Harry for her Roots & Shoots Global Leadership Meeting at St. George’s House. In part, Prince Harry wants to make the world a better place for baby Archie, but his grandmother, the Queen, has also inspired him to take action.

Archie has inspired Prince Harry

Dr. Goodall and Prince Harry were on hand for her annual meeting
and she remarked how the Duke of Sussex likely has a greater interest in the
environment since having a baby.

She shared with reporters: “We talked about Roots and Shoots
and I said, ‘Of course you’re interested now, you have a baby,’ and he said,
‘Of course!’”

She added, “When you bring a child into the world, you have
to worry about the future. If we don’t make change, we don’t have a future.
It’s as simple as that.”

Prince Harry has also been inspired by the Queen

In a speech at the meeting, Prince Harry spoke about how his grandmother provided inspiration in his fight to protect the environment.

He shared: “As my grandmother the Queen once said,
‘sometimes the world’s problems are so big we think we can do little to help.’”

Prince Harry continued: “On our own we cannot end wars or
wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of
goodness can be bigger than we imagine.”

He had huge praise for Goodall, his wife’s ‘idol’

During the event, Prince Harry also praised Goodall in his
speech, sharing: “I met Jane last year, and my affirmation was probably similar
to how you all felt this week when you met her for the first time. That she is
a woman of kindness, warmth, immense knowledge and a softness that’s needed by
mankind just as much as it is chimpkind.”

He continued: “I’ve been admiring her work since I was a kid
and it was so wonderful to find that she was even more amazing in person. She
even treated me to a chimp welcome which only Jane can do! Well, and chimps!”

Prince Harry added: “We also had the opportunity to discuss
our shared belief that conservation and community engagement go hand-in-hand. I
truly believe that the heart of conservation and sustainability is about
people. For any of our efforts to succeed, an inclusive, community-centered
approach where they benefit from safeguarding their natural assets, is what works;
and we have seen that proven time and time again, but sadly not to scale quite
yet.”

When Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, first met Goodall, she was overwhelmed, as the conservationist shared: “She told me she’s followed me all her life. She told me, ‘You’ve been my idol since I was a child. I’ve hero worshipped you all my life.’”

Goodall also got the chance to meet and cuddle with the couple’s baby, who she described as “very cute and very gentle.”

Did ‘Newlyweds’ Destroy Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson’s Marriage?

Jessica Simpson is writing a book! According to the People, Simpson will be divulging everything about herself in the self-written non-fiction offering. One topic that will likely be broached is her disastrous marriage to one-time boy band member, Nick Lachey. The pair married in 2002, but by 2006 they had finalized their divorce. It’s been over a decade since the couple’s demise, but fans are still questioning whether the couple’s show Newlyweds played a part in their decision to divorce. The answer is a bit more complicated than you’d think.

Nick Alleges that Joe Simpson played a significant role in
his marriage to Jessica Simpson

Simpson and Lachey announced their split in 2005 and had initially asked for privacy, but it didn’t take long for interviews to happen. Lachey sat down with Rolling Stone to go over what went wrong in his marriage. In the interview, he alleged that Simpson started the divorce proceedings and that he didn’t see it coming. He, allegedly, knew things weren’t going well, but didn’t expect Simpson to ask for a divorce.

He later went on to allege that Joe Simpson played a massive role in the couple’s relationship. The famous dad and manager reportedly never warmed up to Lachey, and Jessica’s family was deeply involved in her life. In fact, it’s rumored that Simpson wouldn’t even stay in her home if Lachey was away. When he was out of town for business, she’d stay with her parents.

Joe Simpson, however, insists there was never any bad blood. In 2013 he claimed Lachey was a “good husband” and that he’d still “grab a beer with him,” according to Us Magazine.

Joe Simpson was an executive producer on Newlyweds

Watching Newlyweds again, more than a decade since the last episode aired is a bit surreal. Lachey appears to be surly, easily embarrassed, and a little bit insecure about his then-wife’s growing success. Fans have pointed out how Lachey seems to spend much of his time speaking down to Simpson or irritated with the fact that she doesn’t seem to be the brightest bulb in the box.

Joe Simpson

There may be a good reason for that, though. Joe Simpson was an executive producer on the show. The elder Simpson likely attempted to spin the narrative in editing once he knew that the couple’s marriage was doomed. Simpson came off looking a bit dim, but otherwise sweet. Lachey, on the other hand, was painted as moody and difficult.

Nick and Jessica have both moved on

While clips from the couple’s long-defunct show, Newlyweds, live on in infamy, the former pair have both happily moved on from their first marriages. Lachey met Vanessa Minnillo the same year his divorce from Simpson was finalized. The couple broke up for a brief period in 2009 but capped off 2010 by getting engaged. They married in a ceremony on Necker Island in July 2011. It was filmed for television.

Lachey and Minnillo appear to have a rock-solid relationship. They welcomed their first child, Camden John, in 2012, according to Us Magazine. They want on to have two more children, Brooklyn and Phoenix.

Simpson has found happiness in the arms of a former NFL player, Eric Johnson. They share three children. The couple’s first child, Maxwell, was born in 2012. She was later joined by Ace was born the following year. The family just recently added their third addition, a little girl named Birdie Mae. Birdie was born in March 2019.

Is Queen Elizabeth Slowing Down in Her Old Age?

Most people can’t wait until they are old enough to retire. They dream of trading in their busy schedules for a more relaxed, slower-paced lifestyle. Queen Elizabeth is so busy that we often tend to forget what her exact age really is.

Many people her age wouldn’t dream of waking up every day and conducting business, however, that is just what her majesty does on a regular basis.

She not only has her royal duties to attend to, but she has been busy with family obligations as well. In the past year or so, we have seen the queen attending the high-profile weddings of her grandson, Prince Harry to Meghan Markle, and her granddaughter, Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank.

In past years, Queen Elizabeth has attended the christenings of two of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s three children.

It seemed that the queen never missed an event, so when she wasn’t able to be at the christening of her newest great-grandson, Archie Harrison, it raised a significant question. Is Queen Elizabeth slowing down in her old age?

Are the queen’s obligations becoming too much for her to handle?

Queen Elizabeth II

At the age of 93, Queen Elizabeth keeps up a schedule that even people who are decades younger would find overwhelming. So, why wasn’t she at Archie’s christening?

Fans can rest assured that although the queen wasn’t in attendance, it wasn’t because she felt that she needed to stay home. According to People, she was not there simply because she was busy with other obligations.

Queen Elizabeth is the longest-reigning monarch

On September 9, 2015, Queen Elizabeth had the honor of becoming the longest-reigning monarch in England’s history. She has been on the throne for an astonishing 67 years and, as a result, has celebrated a Sapphire Jubilee, something that no other king or queen in Britain’s history has done before.

In fact, her majesty has surpassed many other monarchs with her long reign, according to Express. She has been the ruling monarch of Great Britain longer than Queen Victoria, King Henry III, and King Edward III, among others.

Prince Philip already retired from royal duties

Prince Philip, the queen’s husband, is 98 years old and retired from royal duties two years ago, according to the BBC.

Although his wife has a jam-packed schedule, the prince decided that it was in his best interest to slow down a bit after many years of lending his support to the queen.

How many engagements does the queen carry out?

Most people work approximately 22 days per month at their jobs. In June, the queen did nearly double this, as Royalcentral reports that she carried out 40 engagements during the month.

That is quite impressive for anyone, and Queen Elizabeth did it with ease. In 2019 alone, only three members of the family have been busier, and those family members are Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince Andrew.

Many royal fans may be surprised to learn that the queen’s workload in June was nearly as much as Prince William and Kate Middleton combined. How wonderful that her majesty is such a devoted and hard worker.

Is Queen Elizabeth slowing down in her old age?

Absolutely not! Her majesty is going strong, as shows no signs of slowing down. We are happy that she is able to carry out her royal duties as she always has, and that we get to see her smiling face at so many events and engagements.

It is wonderful to see Queen Elizabeth still being as active as ever, and we look forward to every time we will see her in the future.

Bachelorette Hannah Brown Discusses How Her Christianity Was ‘Weaponized’ Against Her During ‘Men Tell All’

During last night’s “Men Tell All” episode, Bachelorette Hannah Brown explained that her intense initial connection with controversial contestant Luke Parker was partially born out of the fact that both parties identify as Christians.

“It was one of our first conversations, and I wanted a man of God that had those same values,” she told host Chris Harrison.

Hannah Brown | John Fleenor/ABC via Getty Images

But Brown went on to say that, down the road, she felt Parker used his faith to control her.

“Then that was almost weaponized against me. I was, at the end, threatened by the shared faith that we had. Unfortunately, the people that believe the same thing I do, do that a lot sometimes, using the same words and the same things that we believe to call out specific things and poke,” she said.

Brown says her version of Christianity vastly differs from Parker’s.

“The basis of what I believe is love and loving others and understanding and not shaming. His love was contingent on if I did the things that he wanted me to do as he thought a wife should do, not an unconditional love,” she said.

Christianity, sex, and shame on ‘The Bachelorette’

Harrison asked Brown if Paker made her feel shamed during their fantasy suite date.

“Well yeah. Luke is really obsessed with sex and fantasy suites being about sex so I’ll just tell everybody my sex life. Honestly, did I sit around being like huh, who am I gonna have sex with in the fantasy suites? No, I didn’t. That wasn’t something planned, that wasn’t something that was really anybody’s business to know, and it wasn’t your business to ever ask me,” she said, pointing at Parker.

Parker responded:

“Are you really telling me that you never said ‘Don’t judge me about the fantasy suites because I won’t be using that for sex’?”

“I did not say that. Fantasy suites are not used for sex, Luke. You didn’t have one so maybe you don’t know but fantasy suites aren’t used for sex,” Brown shot back.

Brown says she won’t “put up with” another partner like Parker. She’s done being shamed.

“Now I’m like I will not put up with this because that’s not love, that’s not what the person I want to spend the rest of my life with’s ever gonna make me feel. I’m so over being slut-shamed and feeling like that makes me not a woman of faith because oh my gosh, I live my life and make mistakes and sin every single day and so do you, and so do you, and so do you, and so do you. That’s what grace is for. I’m also not gonna say that me having sex in a windmill was just like the scarlet letter on my chest. I’m not gonna stand here and feel that way. You’re not gonna make me feel that way,” she said to uproarious cheers from the predominantly female audience.

The Great Actresses Whoopi Goldberg Beat Out for Her Oscar

Whoopi Goldberg didn’t tiptoe onto the scene with her film debut. For her first movie, Whoopi played the lead in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of The Color Purple (1985). Spielberg, who’d just directed E.T. and the second Indiana Jones movie, was the biggest director in Hollywood.

Meanwhile, Alice Walker had just won the Pulitzer Prize for The Color Purple. (Walker was the first woman of color to win the award for fiction.) After Walker saw Whoopi in her first solo stage show, the author recommended her to Spielberg for the role.

In brief, Whoopi debuted in one of the era’s great productions and made sure not to miss. However, she didn’t win the Oscar that year. Facing off against the like of Meryl Streep, Anne Bancroft, Jessica Lange, and Geraldine Page, it was Page who took home the statue in 1986.

Five years later, Whoopi returned to the Academy Awards with a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Ghost. The second time around, Whoopi got her Oscar after facing off with four great actresses of her generation.

Annette Bening and Diane Ladd both delivered signature performances in ’90.

In that competitive ’91 Oscars, the Supporting Actress category was stacked. Dianne Ladd, who’d been nominated once before, had gotten the nod for her wicked witch performance in David Lynch’s Wild at Heart.

Playing Marietta, the domineering mother of Lula (Laura Dern) and nemesis of her boyfriend Sailor (Nicolas Cage), Ladd was utterly terrifying and convincing. But the same could be said for Annette Bening, who had a career highlight playing Myra in The Grifters.

Working alongside John Cusack and her worthy adversary Angelica Huston, Bening definitely put in the type of work you’d call Oscar-worthy. However, like Ladd, neither could top Whoopi’s work in the eyes of Academy voters.

Looking at the Golden Globe race from earlier in the year, you might have predicted a Whoopi sweep in ’91 — even in the year of Goodfellas and Dances With Wolves.

Mary McDonnell and Lorraine Bracco also could have walked with the Oscar.

Even in 1991, film critics and fans recognized that Martin Scorsese’s classic Goodfellas was destined to be an all-time classic. The film went into the ceremony with six nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Joe Pesci, who’d co-starred as the psychotic Tommy, walked away with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar that night. Lorraine Bracco, who later wowed fans as Dr. Melfi on The Sopranos, faced off against Whoopi for Best Supporting Actress for her work as Karen Hill.

But the list of great actresses didn’t end there. Mary McDonnell, who’d played the female lead in Dances With Wolves, represented another heavyweight in the competition. (Dances With Wolves swept the major awards that night, ending with a total of seven Oscars.)

Looking back on that night in ’91, Whoopi had a lot of admiration for her fellow nominees. “I wanted an Oscar. I thought I’d earned it,” she told the New York Times Magazine in July. “I thought the other women also earned it. I mean, the performances that year were stellar.”

Whoopi also spoke of her personal connection to the others in the race that night. “All broads I love. We see each other, and it’s still like, ‘OK, bitch, when do we do this again?’”
